Some feel Nokia has entered the smartphone war a little late. Smartphones using Microsoft software have just a 2 percent market share, compared with Google Android at around 50 percent and Apple at 15-20 percent.
LOOKS: Nokia Lumia 800 is available in three colours – Black, Fuschia and Cyan. It has a polycarbonate body which makes it scratch-resistant. The 3.7-inch glass display has a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. It has got the perfect sleek and stylish look which will appeal to professionals as well as all those who take ‘style with substance’ as their motto.
FEATURES: The display is fantastic. It has a dazzling 480x800 pixel AMOLED display, perfect for multimedia consumption that brings out the best in Mango's colourful interface.There as is a dedicated camera button which turns on the camera with a single press. However, there is no front camera which makes it quite disappointing. Performance wise the 8 megapixel camera is nothing much to write about. It is not the best but is still upto the mark as far as day-to-day functionality is concerned.
The bottom has a speaker grille which also encases the microphone. The USB port as well as SIM card panel is quite tricky, not for those people who like effortless design. It allows 16GB of internal storage.
PERFORMANCE: Battery life is average. The Call clarity too is average too. The touch screen device that runs on Windows Phone 7.5 - Mango operating System has a restrained processor. It has a 1.4 Ghz Qualcomm MSM 8255 single-core processor with 512MB of RAM.
Nokia Lumia 800, with a price tag of Rs 29,999, is a fun buy if one were to go by its stylish look and feel. It is classy yet has a solid build. However if you want to have a smart buy you can make do with Lumia 800 till another smartphone of the equal range and feature hits the market.
